The video below contains spoken data from open ended items taken from the national survey for the project, Understanding and Addressing Everyday Sexisms in Australian Universities.

At the end of the national survey, participants were asked if they had anything else to say about everyday sexisms at universities. Alongside accounts of experiencing everyday sexisms and the impact that this has had, participants also shared strong opinions that opposed the existence of everyday sexisms. These included beliefs in ‘reverse sexism’ (the idea that men are now the victims of sexism), discontent and opposition to inclusion initiatives (including Acknowledgement of Country, sharing pronouns, Pride events and gender equity policies).

These accounts are being shared here in order to illustrate the social, cultural, intellectual and institutional structures that keep everyday sexisms going.
